Yesterday, March 28th, more than thirty students at the Universidad Carlos III attended an information session organized by the city’s volunteer entities to learn about volunteer opportunities in Getafe, including opportunities available at Colega Getafe.
The audience members in the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y Jurídicas had the chance to familiarize themselves with the variety of volunteer proposals that Getafe’s organizations offer. Among these proposals were the variety of projects in which Colega Getafe is involved.
For example, students have the opportunity to lend a hand in the health projects (informative campaigns about drug addiction and sexually transmitted infections) and educational projects (awareness-raising about sexual diversity) that our organization realizes in Getafe. If they involve themselves with Colega Getafe they also have the chance to help LGBT refugees and immigrants who arrive in our region.
“Although the opposite may sometimes seem true, young people are not frozen; the majority of young people really want to help, to work to make the world a better place,” says Javier Navarro, the Colega coordinator who was present at the event. “We hope that many of the students consider participating in our projects; we await them with open arms,” Navarro concluded.
