We offer this service through client referral, in cases that require specialized attention and therapeutic support, such as in cases where individuals are engaged in complicated psychological processes generated by situations of acceptance, integration, and revelation. The service consists in personalized advice for you and/or or a partner or family member who has caused you emotional distress as a result of their refusal to accept your sexual orientation or gender identity.
What we do
- Personal Information and Attention
- Counsel and Psychological Orientation
- Legal Counsel and Information
- Prevention, Information, and Detection of HIV/AIDS
- Sensitivity Training Workshops
- Social Group Activities
The service relies on distinct means to contact you and receive your basic information (phone number, email, website…). This is the first step in working with the service. In certain cases you will establish a preliminary meeting with the Social Worker for personalized attention and a more exhaustive appraisal of the issue. This allows the Social Worker to develop a better understanding of the situation so that they can deduce the most appropriate method of intervention. Depending on the case, you may be directed to other services at the Center, or to services external to the center such as Social Services.
The manner of arriving at this service is also through client referral. This service is utilized in situations in which the problem at hand is tied up in legal questions related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Legal questions that arise are varied; doubts related to the regulations concerning same sex partners, job discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, questions about wills and the right to inheritance, etc.
Kifkif has created a personal and confidential service that informs community members about HIV, AIDS, and S.T.I.s (Sexually Transmitted Infections). We make sure that members know about the symptoms and risks of transmission that exist, thereby promoting the sexual health of the collective of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender folks. This service generates a variety of activities: sexual education workshops, early detection of HIV, emotional support…
Innovative workshops designed to inform, advise, and raise awareness among volunteers, community members, and other people interested in forming part of these workshops, which take place in Kifkif headquarters.
The objective of this service consists in promoting teamwork and social interactions. Various types of social activities exist, such as movie nights (in which the films touch on themes pertinent to the gay community) that end with a talk/debate in which everyone is encouraged to express their opinions, be heard, and learn from the comments of their peers. We also create spaces where people can listen to the experiences of special guests or express their own experiences.
